Age Calculator

Enter a date of birth to see your exact age in years, months and days, the total number of days lived and how long until your next birthday. Leap years are handled correctly.

Your dates

From 1 January 1900 up to the calculation date.

Leave empty to use today's date.

Enter a date of birth to see your age.

How to use the Age Calculator

  1. Pick your date of birth with the date field, or type it in your browser's date format.
  2. Leave “Age at date” empty to measure your age as of today, or choose another date to see how old you were or will be then.
  3. Read your age in years, months and days, plus the total days, weeks and months you have lived.
  4. Check the next-birthday panel for the date, the weekday, the days remaining and the age you will turn.
  5. Use “Copy summary” to paste the results elsewhere, or “Reset” to start again.

How your age is worked out

The calculator counts whole calendar months from your date of birth, then the days left over. A month is complete when the same day-of-month comes round again; if the target month is shorter, the last day of that month is used instead.

Total days lived is the plain number of calendar days between the two dates. The birth date itself is not counted, so someone born today has lived 0 days. Total weeks is that figure divided by 7, rounded down, with the remainder shown in days.

The next birthday is the first anniversary of your birth date that falls on or after the calculation date. If it is today, the countdown shows 0 days. The age you turn is the birthday's year minus your birth year.

All of this is done with calendar dates, not clock times, so your time zone and daylight-saving changes cannot shift the result. The only thing taken from your device is today's date.

total months = largest N where (birth date + N months) <= calculation date
years = floor(total months / 12), months = total months mod 12
days = calculation date - (birth date + total months)
total days = calculation date - birth date
total weeks = floor(total days / 7)

Assumptions and limits

  • Dates of birth before 1 January 1900 are rejected.
  • Dates use the Gregorian calendar throughout, including for years before it was adopted in different countries.
  • A 29 February birthday is observed on 28 February in non-leap years. Other conventions exist and may differ by one day.
  • “Today” comes from your device's clock and local date. If your clock is wrong, so is the result.
  • Age is counted in calendar dates only. The time of birth and your birthplace's time zone are not considered.

Practical examples

Born 15 January 2000, measured on 3 November 2026

The age is 26 years, 9 months and 19 days. That is 9,789 days, or 1,398 weeks plus 3 days, and 321 complete months. The next birthday is Friday, 15 January 2027: 73 days away, when you turn 27.

Born on 29 February 2000

On 27 February 2026 the age is 25 years, 11 months and 29 days. One day later, on 28 February 2026, it becomes exactly 26 years, because this tool treats 28 February as the anniversary in non-leap years. On 29 February 2024 the age is exactly 24 years.

Month ends are clamped

From 31 January 2023 to 1 March 2023 the result is 1 month and 1 day (29 days in total). Adding one month to 31 January lands on 28 February, the last day of that shorter month, and one more day reaches 1 March.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my age in months and days differ from another calculator?

Calculators disagree on what “one month” means when the day does not exist in the next month. This one uses the last day of the shorter month, so the result is always a definite, repeatable calendar breakdown.

When does a 29 February birthday count as a year older?

Here, on 28 February in non-leap years and on 29 February in leap years. Some people and some legal systems use 1 March instead, so check the rule that applies to you if it matters officially.

Can I find my age on a past or future date?

Yes. Enter a date in “Age at date”. It cannot be earlier than your date of birth, and the date of birth cannot be after it.

Does the date of birth count as day one?

No. Total days lived is the difference between the two dates, so the day you were born is day 0. Counting both ends would add one day.

Is my date of birth sent or stored anywhere?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and the date you type is not sent to a server.
