Birthday Countdown

Enter a date of birth or a birthday date to see how many days, months and days remain until the next one, the date it falls on and the day of the week.

Your birthday

From 1 January 1900 up to today.

Enter a date of birth to start the countdown.

How to use the Birthday Countdown

  1. Choose “Date of birth” if you want to know which age you will turn, or “Birthday date” if you only have the month and day.
  2. Pick the date in the field. For a birthday date, the year does not matter.
  3. Read the days remaining, the months and days breakdown, and the date and weekday of the next birthday.
  4. If you entered a date of birth, the age you will turn is shown as well.
  5. Press “Copy summary” to share the result, or “Reset” to clear everything.

How the countdown works

The tool takes the month and day of your birthday and places them in the current year. If that date is today or later, it is your next birthday. If it has already passed, the same month and day in the following year is used.

Days remaining is the plain difference in calendar days between today and that date, so a birthday that is today shows 0 days. The months and days figure counts whole calendar months from today first, then the days left over.

The weekday is calculated from the date itself, and the age you will turn is the birthday's year minus your birth year. A birthday date without a birth year cannot give an age, so that line is hidden in “Birthday date” mode.

Only calendar dates are involved. Time zones and daylight saving do not affect the answer; the one thing read from your device is today's date.

next birthday = first occurrence of (month, day) on or after today
days remaining = next birthday - today
turning age = year of next birthday - birth year

Assumptions and limits

  • The countdown always starts from today's date on your device; you cannot choose another starting date.
  • A 29 February birthday is observed on 28 February in non-leap years. Other conventions exist.
  • Dates of birth before 1 January 1900 are rejected.
  • Months and days remaining uses calendar months, so the day count varies with month length.

Practical examples

Born 15 January 2000

On 3 November 2026 the next birthday is Friday, 15 January 2027. That is 73 days away, or 2 months and 12 days, and you will turn 27.

A birthday that has already passed this year

For a birthday on 10 March, seen on 3 November 2026, the countdown rolls to 2027: Wednesday, 10 March 2027, which is 127 days or 4 months and 7 days away.

Using only a birthday date

Entering 14 February (any year) on 3 November 2026 gives Sunday, 14 February 2027: 103 days, or 3 months and 11 days. No age is shown because no birth year was given.

When the birthday is today

A birthday on 3 November, checked on 3 November 2026, shows 0 days remaining and the date Tuesday, 3 November 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What does it show if my birthday is today?

It shows 0 days remaining and a short note that today is the birthday. The next-birthday date is then today's date.

What is the difference between the two input modes?

With a date of birth, the tool can also tell you the age you will turn. With a birthday date, only the month and day are used, so it works for anyone's birthday, even if you do not know the birth year.

How are 29 February birthdays handled?

In years that are not leap years, the birthday is counted on 28 February. In leap years it falls on 29 February.

Why is the date of birth rejected?

A date of birth cannot be in the future, and it must be 1 January 1900 or later. Dates that do not exist, such as 30 February, are rejected as well.

Does the countdown update at midnight?

It refreshes based on your device's local date about once a minute, so a page left open will roll over to the new day shortly after midnight.
